Cross Searcher ("we", "our", or "the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our browser extension.

1. Data Collection and Usage

We do not collect, store, or share any personally identifiable information (PII). The data used by the Extension is processed locally on your device, with the specific exception of the translation feature described below.

Permissions We Use:

• Context Menus (contextMenus): The Extension accesses the text you select on a webpage only when you right-click and choose a search option from the "Cross Searcher" menu. This text is strictly used to generate search URLs for the e-commerce sites you selected. We do not store or log your browsing history or selected text.
• Storage (storage): We use the local browser storage to save your preferences, such as:
  • Your customized list of search sites.
  • The activation status of the Pro version. These settings are synced across your logged-in Chrome browsers via Chrome Sync mechanism provided by Google, and we do not have access to this data on our own servers.
• External Data Processing (Translation Feature): To provide the cross-border search functionality (e.g., searching on eBay US with Japanese keywords), the Extension may send your selected text to Google Translate API (translate.googleapis.com).
  • Purpose: To translate keywords from Japanese to English.
  • Data Handling: The text is sent securely via HTTPS. It is processed solely for the purpose of translation and is not stored by us.

2. Third-Party Services

The Extension interacts with the following third-party services to perform its core functions:

• Google Translate: Used for translating search keywords. Please refer to Google Privacy & Terms for more information.
• Target E-commerce Sites (e.g., eBay, Amazon, Mercari): When you click a search menu item, the Extension opens a new tab directing you to these third-party websites. Your search query is passed to them via the URL parameters. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites.

3. Data Retention

We do not operate any external servers to store user data. All configurations are stored locally within your browser or your Google account (via Chrome Sync). If you uninstall the Extension, all local data associated with it will be removed.

4. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify users through the Chrome Web Store listing or within the Extension's settings page.
